Thanks Nick. The problem is the human being. In all corners, all aspects, it sees the world thru its adopted world view / belief ,and clings to it for dear life. Not all, but most. And the ego has us all crave agreement . The false center by OSHO a great read on it. Much of what Kieth states is correct and there are many scammers our for cash in this so called paranormal topic. Anything that cannot be proved has unlimited potential for cash and continued manipulation. Religion a great example. But again the problem is how to suss it all out? Who gets to do this? What non agenda egoless person or panel gets to decide ? Who will miss the dolphin in the tuna net as the big net is cast? Without good honest and well researched on site, not blue screen journalism, which is pretty much gone today, we are lost. Im not happy about the state of affairs, but Im against censorship .

Ill go with JFK who said, let the people decide. You are advocating censorship. But who put you in charge of what needs to be censored? Theyre is a thousand year history of lore, myth, aboriginal dreamtime and Icelandic story telling of spirits and other worldly beings. Should they all be erased as well? Let people decide.

Leslie Kean has far more credibility problems than just her membership in a UFO organization. She took time off from her investigation of "Spirit Materialization" to write this UFO article for the New York Times. Kean's most recent book is titled "Surviving Death: A Journalist Investigates Evidence for an Afterlife" (2017). One would think that this would disqualify her from writing UFO articles for a serious newspaper (If the NYT still claims to be that).

Her co-author Ralph Blumenthal also has written articles promoting claims of "UFO abduction."

To start with I agree with the comments below by Nick Palmer concerning the news.

Secondly, based on the article it sounds to me like their are a number of cognitive biases at play concerning peoples beliefs in UFOs. I see examples of Authority Bias, the Halo Effect, among others.

Next an observation is not fact, it is a data point. It needs to be combined with other observations to prove facts.

Lastly, I have no idea if UFOs exist or if they are from outside the earth. I see no proof either way. It appears however, based on comments by the military, that additional observations and analysis are justified.

I think the root of the problem is that journalism/reporting has morphed from attempting to communicate the facts and find out the truth into today's 'corrupted' version which mainly seeks to report the views and opinions of all without critical analysis being brought to bear on them in, to my mind, a misguided belief that everyone's opinion deserves to be widely publicised
